Flooring Design

Unlike other furniture items such as wallpaper and paint colors, flooring primary function is useful. Whatever the surface or finish you choose, you should be able to rigors of everyday use.

Obviously, some areas of the home will be more traffic than others, corridors and hallways are a good example, while some areas such as kitchens, floors often need to be freed from all risk of tripping or slipping.

So the first consideration in choosing the floor to be practical. This will determine whether a soft or hard to choose, and whether it should be easily cleaned. From there you should take into consideration the overall look you are after. The same rules apply colors and patterns in other parts of the house, the bright colors, designs and flat surfaces make a small area appear larger, dark colors and busy patterns have the opposite effect.

flooring materials can be divided into two main groups: hard and soft. The first category includes carpets, rugs and natural flooring such as coir and sisal, and the category includes hard marble, stone, brick and tiles. Also there is vinyl, wood and cork.

carpet of good quality can be worn as a good insulation, acting both in terms of heat and noise. But they are harder to clean than a hard floor that can be cleaned, and are not waterproof, so not a good choice for a kitchen or bathroom.
